Bending for a Cause

On March 2nd, I shaved my head for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation after raising over $2,000 for Children’s Cancer Research. The following week I attended Wizard World Sacramento and put together this Female version of Aang, from Avatar the Last Airbender. I felt like this was a wonderful opportunity to show that being a bald woman is both beautiful and without limits! I had more fun in this costume then I ever could have imagined! I could not keep from smiling!!! Especially with so many people, from adults to kids recognizing my character and wanting photos with me. My amazing friend, Allie, had the brilliant idea of using the rhinestones for the Arrow (mostly she just wanted an excuse to bedazzle my head! Haha) I plan on wearing this costume again at WonderCon in a couple weeks. Aang is one of my all time favorite characters, and with the appearance of his female counterpart on Ember Island, I was inspired to make this costume. I wanted to put my own spin on it to make it feel a little more feminine and fashion forward. Overall I think it turned out really well, and the best part was that people still recognized who I was. These are some of my favorite shots from Wizard World. I hope you enjoy them! =D

If you’d like to contribute to this amazing cause and help find a cure for Children’s Cancer, you can still donate on my page. Every little bit makes a difference and gets us that much closer to finding safer and more effective cures!

Thank you to all the wonderful photographer for taking my photo.  Please be sure to check out their sites as well!
