Gaga for Lady Gaga

Wow, long time with no post O_O

So here's a little something I whipped up today. I have been feeling very exhausted creatively lately, as life has been very busy. So in an effort to feed my inner artist, I decided to just have some fun with color and draw my inspiration from Lady Gaga. Her latest Music Video "Bad Romance" is full of fun and vibrant visuals. It's hard to not be inspired by it really. So this drawing was done referencing her crazy huge eyed bath scene.

I chose to use my Crayola colored pencils, since it's been awhile since I worked in color. Normally I would prefer to use Prisma, but this was what I had, so I made the most of it. I started with a light sandy color, and built up a rough sort of under painting. I mixed in a layer of orange and then mauve to start bring in some form and begin fleshing out some details. After that I brought in the pink for her lips and cheeks. Once the rough form was in place, I began adding darker colors to push the areas I wanted more contrast in. I had a lot of fun with her eyes, I wanted them to be the focal point of the drawing, thus the high contrast. All in all I tried to keep the overall feel soft, and give Gaga a bit of a Hannah stylized interpretation.

All in all I'm pretty happy with it. I'm looking forward to doing more with color soon.

Thanks for stopping by, as always feel free to comment! Have a great day!

  1. Only you could make Crayola look so good!!

  2. Awe, thanks Kater! That's so sweet of you to say! ^_^ I was pleased it turned out.

  3. Lady Gaga should look so good. A good solid black (and deep red) which brings out the subtlety of the pastels. Very nice!
